My friend, Matt Beasely, has started a ministry to the homeless in Anderson, SC called the Least of These(LOT) Project.  They had provided food, clothing, and other assistance to many people in need.  There organization is struggling financially right now, but God has continued to provide for there needs.  They have a big event coming up on Thanksgiving called the Harvest of Hope.  Here’s how Matt described it in his own words.

“The Harvest of Hope is going to be on Nov. 24. We are going to have a Thanksgiving feast on November 24, 4:30-6:00 pm at Sullivan’s Cafe, with ALL the trimmings, for the families that we serve. It is open to all families that are in need and all those with an abundance can come serve. We plan to shower these people with so much love that they can help but notice that Christ is in us. They wont even have to think about getting up and refilling their tea, BC we will be there serving their every need. As we look forward to going to eat Thanksgiving with our families, there are some that dont have families or a Thanksgiving feast to look forward to. Through Christ in us, we are going to be their family and bring them the HOPE that is found in a relationship with Him. We dont just talk it….we walk it….

$20 for 20 days started 20 days from Nov. 24 (Harvest of Hope) A board member of ours challenged us and our volunteers to ask at least one person for $20+ every day for 20 days and just see what happens. so thats how we got the name…”

You can follow Matt on Twitter, at his blog, or at the LOT blog.  The LOT project also has a Facebook page, Twitter page, Flickr, and YouTube page.  Go here to donate. Matt is one of the most passionate people I know.  He is truly Chasing His Lion.  This need hits close to home for me because I am from the Anderson area(and ironically am typing this post from there).  The needs are real and great, but Matt’s vision is that God desires to see everyone there fed, clothed, and with a roof over there head.  Your help will drastically change someone’s life and allow the LOT Project to continue to be a beacon of hope to the homeless and needy of Anderson.

One of the great things about getting Chase Your Lion dot com up and running is the number of charitable organizations that I’ve discovered.  It has been an incredible encouragement to share the story of companies like TOMS Shoes and organizations like Charity Water.  Today, I want to focus on GlobalGiving.com.  Up until a few weeks ago I had never heard of them.  It was through my partnership with Commision Junction that this great group was brought to my attention.  They find and promote worthwhile projects and help donors find and fund the project they’re most interested in. They have a great variety of projects you can give to ranging from clean water initiatives to education to freeing young girls from a life of servitude.  It’s a place where you can match your passion with a project and then invest your time, energy, and resources.  They also have a page where you can recommend or nominate a project for consideration.  You can also search for projects by location so if there’s an area of the world you’re especially sensitive to then you can direct your efforts there.  For example, you could click on the link to Cuba and see that they are currently accepting donations for Hurricane relief.  They suggest several dollar amounts for a donation(or you can give a different amount) and give an example of what each amount could provide. There are currently over 100 countries listed.  So, whether you want to provide micro credit loans to women in Bosnia Give Microcredit Loans to Women in Bosnia, donate a pig to a family in Haiti Donate a Pig: Invest in Haiti's Future,or help Indian Rickshaw Pullers become self-employed Help Indian Rickshaw-Pullers Become Self-Employed there is a way to get involved.  Stop using the excuse, “I can’t really find anything I want to give to” because Global Giving has you covered.  Won’t you Choose From Hundreds of Projects and Make a 100% Tax Deductible Difference Now?

MusiChristian.com: Low Prices...Huge Selection

It’s only fitting that we take on Monday to spotlight the man whose book inspired this site.  Mark Batterson is the Lead Pastor of National Community Church in Washington, DC.  They are reaching the city in an innovative way by meeting in theaters and coffeehouses throughout the area.  It’s truly an amazing story. You can read more about he and his family here.  On top of being a pastor, Mark travels the country speaking at various conferences and has written three books(In a Pit with a Lion on a Snowy Day, ID: the true you,  and Wild Goose Chase) with a third(Primal) on the way.  I love listening to his weekly podcast and his blog, www.Evotional.com, is on my reading list.  Here are a few video clips from Mark.  One is him telling the story behind their coffeehouse, Ebenezers, and the other is his teaching from the Nines conference.  His books and teaching will challenge you to strive for more and not settle for less than what God has planned for you.  My prayer is that he will be as much an inspiration to you as he has been to me and that you will wake up and Chase Your Lion!
